Program a Cisco Router

Programming your new Cisco router is step one in configuring your home network. This will enable you to connect your other home computers to the router in order to share your Internet, printers and files.Utilize the Hyper-terminal utility in your operating system to issue the basic configuration commands to your router. Instructions
  1. Plug an Ethernet cable into the back of your computer and plug the other end into the Cisco router.
  2. Click "Start," "Programs," "Accessories," "Communications" and click "Hyperterminal."
  3. Click "New Connection," title it "Cisco," select the default "COM1" port, select a baud rate of "9600" and click "OK."
  4. Turn on the Cisco router and press "Enter" when prompted.
  5. Select "Yes" when asked if you want to continue with the configuration dialog and answer the onscreen questions about your home network to configure the router (e.g. inputting how your computer connects to the Internet).
